Mike maintains a shared BibTeX bibliography that can save you time, and reduce errors, when writing papers. To clone, run:

git clone https://github.com/mernst/plume-bib.git

(After you read the public README file for the bibliographies, you can optionally obtain a version that contains comments on some of the papers if you promise never to share or redistribute it. See its README-private file.)

When writing papers, we occasionally check in .bbl files, even though they are generated files, which ordinarily do not belong in a version control repository. We do so if we wish to be able to regenerate the paper exactly as it was at some point in time, without the undesirable and error-prone duplication of dozens of separate bibliography repositories, one per paper. Using the shared bibliographies reduces the need for that.
